I’m an Ayurvedic Postpartum Caregiver and Chef and I’ve created the perfect post-birth recovery meal plan for my clients. I would like to propose an alternative to pharmaceutical solutions, one that has been around for thousands of years: Care providers will routinely prescribe a stool softener (most commonly Colace) to prevent or remedy this issue. While there are various factors that contribute to postpartum constipation, the main culprit, in my opinion, is the hospital food given to mothers immediately after birth.
